Some licensed electronic resources, such as journal article databases, are commercial products with access restrictions.

Students in apartments should use a proxy server to access library electronic resources. The Informatization Office of Fudan University has issued a free proxy server ( libproxy.fudan.edu.cn :8080 ) .For more details, please see also the following configurations.

Configuring Internet Explorer 6.x on Windows:

SELECT INTERNET EXPLORER OPTIONS

1  Start Internet Explorer if it isn't already running.
2  Click Tools in the menubar to open the Tools menu.
3  Click Internet Options... to bring up the Internet Options dialog box.
4  Click the Connections tab
    • For dial-up ISPs, you need to set your proxy configuration by selecting the ¡°Dial-up Setting¡± you want to configure and clicking Settings... .
    •  For cable modem or DSL services, click on LAN Settings...
5  Click Use a proxy server in the Proxy Setting dialog box
6  Enter libproxy.fudan.edu.cn in the box labeled Address , 8080 in the box labeled Port

  Click OK .

Please Note:

1. The free proxy is specialized in access to the electronic resources of the library, and you can not visit other websites via the proxy server. Please turn on the proxy when accessing to the restricted electronic resources of the library, and you need to turn the proxy off by unchecking use a proxy server option when you surf the internet.

2. The students of FDU can use the electronic resources only in the campus, and cannot use our licensed resources ( e.g., e-journal databases) off campus.
